About the Best Book Award Scheme
The Best Book Award scheme by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat, promotes high-quality literary creation and recognition of literary talent. It awards the best books published each calendar year in various languages through the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi. Under this scheme, the first prize includes ₹11,000 along with a certificate and shield; the second prize includes ₹7,000 with a certificate and shield; and the third prize includes ₹5,000, also with a certificate and shield. The scheme is implemented by the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be an author.
- The applicant’s book should have been published within the relevant calendar year.
- The applicant’s book should be written in a language recognised by the Gujarat Sahitya Academy.

- Prizes are awarded to the best books in the respective language published by Cha Sahitya Academy every calendar year.
- The scheme is applicable to Gujarat as well as across the country.
