About the Combined Merit Scholarship Scheme
The scheme "Combined Merit Scholarship" by the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam, aims to provide financial assistance to students of Assam studying in first semester degree courses and master's degree courses in any recognized colleges or universities in the state and other states of the country, focusing on students with uniformly good academic records and at least 60% marks in last qualifying examinations. Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be pursuing general degree or master's degree courses in Arts, Science, or Commerce discipline in any recognized institution.
- The applicant must be domiciled in Assam (Permanent Resident Certificate document mandatory).
- The applicant must have obtained minimum 60% marks in Higher Secondary examination for those applying for Combined Merit Degree Scholarship scheme.
- The applicant must have obtained minimum 60% marks in General Degree (Three Year Degree Course) examination for those applying for Combined Merit Master Degree Scholarship scheme.
- The applicant must possess relevant qualification from any recognized institution.
- The applicant must have a valid bank account in their name (preferably in State Bank of India).

How to Apply for Combined Merit Scholarship
Application mode: Online
Step 1: _Online Application Submission_
Visit the official website of the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Assam, and complete the online application form within the specified application period with all required personal, academic, and bank account details.
Step 2: _Document Upload and Verification_
Upload scanned copies of all required documents including Permanent Resident Certificate, mark sheets, institutional certificate, photograph, and signature as per the prescribed format and specifications.
Step 3: _Application Form Printout_
After successful online submission, take a printout of the completed application form and ensure all information is accurate and complete before proceeding to the next step.
Step 4: _Physical Submission to Institution_
Submit the printed application form along with necessary copies of certificates and testimonials to the Registrar, Principal, or Head of the Institution where currently enrolled for verification and forwarding.
Step 5: _Institutional Verification and Forwarding_
The Registrar, Principal, or Head of the Institution will collect, verify, and submit the hard copies of online forms along with all relevant certificates and testimonials under their seal and signature to the Directorate of Higher Education, Assam, Kahilipara, Guwahati - 781019.
Step 6: _Selection Process_
The selection committee will evaluate applications strictly on the basis of merit in all cases and selection will be restricted as per budget allocation for the respective categories.
Step 7: _Benefit Disbursement_
Selected beneficiaries will receive scholarship amounts through Direct Benefit Transfer system directly to their registered bank accounts on a monthly basis.
