The “Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards” scheme launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The scheme aims to recognize acts of bravery and humanity in saving lives during emergencies such as accidents, fires, drowning, disasters, and attacks. Under this scheme, medals, certificates, and financial allowances are provided to individuals who demonstrate exceptional courage in life-saving situations.

  • Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak – For most conspicuous bravery involving extreme risk to life
  • Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak – For bravery and promptness in serious risk situations
  • Jeevan Raksha Padak – For courage and promptness in life-saving acts involving injury risk

Tangible Benefits

  • Medal (As Per Category) – A distinguished medal is awarded based on the level of bravery demonstrated.
  • Certificate of Recognition – An official certificate acknowledging the act of gallantry is provided.
  • Financial Allowance (As Per Government Norms) – A monetary allowance is granted as per rules prescribed by the government of india.

  1. The applicant should be any individual from any field of life
  2. The applicant should have performed a life-saving act involving courage and risk
  3. The applicant should have acted in emergencies such as fire, drownings, accidents, disasters, etc.
  4. The applicant may belong to armed forces, police, CAPFs, fire services, or civilians
  5. The applicant can be recommended posthumously

How to Apply for Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards

Application mode: Online

Step 01: Visit the National Awards Portal: https://www.awards.gov.in

Step 02: Register/Login using official credentials of the recommending authority

Step 03: Fill in the nomination form with complete details

Step 04: Upload required documents, including citation and verification certificate

Step 05: Ensure accurate entry of nominee details (including Hindi name) and submit the application online before the deadline.

Step 06: Applications are evaluated by a high-level committee and final approval is given by the President of India

  1. The applicant should not be nominated after 2 years from the date of the act
  2. The applicant cannot apply directly (self-nomination not allowed)
  3. No offline/email applications are accepted
