About the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Scheme

The scheme "Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan" was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, and the scheme aims to ensure old age protection for unorganised workers. The scheme provides a minimum assured pension of ₹3,000/- per month after attaining the age of 60 years, matching government contributions, and a family pension amounting to 50% of the pension for the spouse. The applicant must be an unorganised worker in the entry age group of 18 to 40 years with a monthly income of ₹15,000/- or less, and must make regular age-specific monthly contributions. The scheme is implemented by the Life Insurance Corporation of India and Common Services Centres.

Benefits

  • A minimum assured pension of ₹3,000/- per month is provided to the subscriber after attaining the age of 60 years.- A matching contribution is provided by the Central Government on a 50:50 basis, where an equal amount to the subscriber&#39;s age-specific contribution (ranging from ₹55/- to ₹200/-) is credited to the pension account.

** During the receipt of the pension, if the subscriber dies:* The spouse of the beneficiary shall be entitled to receive a family pension equal to 50% of the pension received by the beneficiary.

** If a beneficiary has given regular contributions and died due to any cause before the age of 60 years:* _Their spouse will be entitled to join and continue the scheme subsequently by the payment of regular contributions._

** If a beneficiary has given regular contributions and died due to any cause before the age of 60 years, and the spouse decides to exit:* _The beneficiary&#39;s contribution along with accumulated interest as actually earned by the fund or at the savings bank interest rate (whichever is higher) will be returned._

** If the subscriber exits the scheme within a period of less than 10 years:* _The beneficiary&#39;s share of contribution only will be returned to them with the savings bank interest rate._

** If the subscriber exits after a period of 10 years or more but before the superannuation age of 60 years:* _The beneficiary&#39;s share of contribution along with accumulated interest as actually earned by the fund or at the savings bank interest rate, whichever is higher, will be returned._

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant must be an unorganised worker.
  2. The applicant must have an entry age between 18 and 40 years.
  3. The applicant must have a monthly income of ₹15,000/- or less.
  4. The applicant must possess a Savings Bank Account or Jan Dhan account number with an Indian Financial System Code.
  5. The applicant must possess a mobile phone.

How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan

Application mode: Online - via CSC / Online

Step 1: The interested eligible person must visit the nearest Common Services Centre (CSC) to initiate the registration and enrollment process.

Step 2: The Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) present at the CSC will key in the Aadhaar number, the exact name of the subscriber as printed on the Aadhaar card, and the date of birth into the system. These details will subsequently be instantly verified with the UIDAI database.

Step 3: The VLE will capture further details of the applicant, including Bank Account details, Mobile Number, Email-id, spouse, and nominee details into the registration portal. A self-certification verifying the required eligibility conditions will also be successfully completed in the system during this step.

Step 4: The system will automatically calculate the exact monthly contribution payable according to the entry age of the subscriber. The subscriber must then pay the full amount of the first subscription in cash to the VLE, who will generate a receipt and hand it over to the subscriber.

Step 5: An Enrolment Form cum Auto Debit mandate will be printed and must be physically signed by the subscriber. The VLE must then scan the signed enrolment cum auto debit mandate and safely upload it into the system.

Step 6: A unique Shram Yogi Pension Account Number will be instantly generated, and a Shram Yogi Card will be printed directly at the CSC. The subscriber will leave the center with the printed Shram Yogi Card and a signed copy of the enrolment form for their personal records.

Step 1: The subscriber will regularly receive SMS notifications on their registered mobile phone regarding the activation of the auto-debit facility. An additional mini-statement message will be automatically sent to the mobile device upon every successful monthly deduction of the contribution.

Step 2: The mandatory monthly subscription shall be automatically debited on a fixed date every single month from the subscriber&#39;s linked saving account or Jan-Dhan account. The subscriber must proactively maintain sufficient funds in their account to ensure the contribution, along with any applicable penalty or interest, is successfully processed.
