The scheme "Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY)" by the Ministry Of Tribal Affairs, Government Of India, aims to transform villages with high Scheduled Tribe population into model villages through providing financial assistance for infrastructure gap filling and socio-economic development to the tribal communities. - The village must have at least 50% Scheduled Tribe (ST) population.
- The village must have a population of at least 500 in plain areas; 250 in hilly/tribal areas.
- The village must be selected by the State/UT Government based on criteria defined in the guidelines.

- Preference is given to villages with higher ST population concentration.
- Priority is given to villages with significant infrastructure gaps.
