The scheme aims to increase higher education enrolment among Scheduled Caste students, especially those from poor households. Through this scheme, financial assistance towards fees and academic expenses is provided to eligible Scheduled Caste students.

About the Post Matric Scholarships to the Students Belonging to Scheduled Castes, DNH & DD Scheme

The scheme "Post Matric Scholarships to the Students Belonging to Scheduled Castes" by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. It aims to appreciably increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio of Scheduled Caste students in higher education, with a focus on students from the poorest households. Through this scheme, financial assistance in the form of reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees and academic allowance is provided to Scheduled Caste students pursuing post-matriculation and post-secondary education in India. The scheme is implemented by the UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. The scholarships are available for recognised post-matriculation and post-secondary courses pursued in recognised institutions. The scheme covers both fresh and renewal cases. Benefits are available for the complete duration of the approved course, subject to fulfilment of prescribed conditions. Scholarship payments are made directly into the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Benefits

  1. Academic allowance for Day Scholars: ₹2,500 to ₹7,000 per annum.
  2. Academic allowance for Hostellers: ₹4,000 to ₹13,500 per annum.
  3. Reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees, including tuition fees.
  4. Additional 10% allowance for Divyang students.
  5. Students pursuing CA/ICWA/CS/ICFA are treated as day scholars.
  6. Financial support for higher education and professional courses.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant must belong to the SC category.
  2. The student should have passed Matriculation/Higher Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognised Board/University.
  3. The applicant must possess UT domicile certificate.
  4. Parent/guardian annual income should not exceed ₹2.50 lakh.
  5. The students must study in institutions/colleges having an AISHE/UDISE code.
  6. The participating institutions must have NAAC/NBA accreditation.
  7. The Correspondence/online course students are eligible only for tuition fee support, not an academic allowance.

How to Apply for Post Matric Scholarships to the Students Belonging to Scheduled Castes, DNH & DD

Application mode: Online

Step 1: Keep ready the soft copies of the required documents.

Go to http://www.scholarships.gov.in/. And click “New Registration”.

Guidelines for Registration will appear. Scroll to the bottom.

Read the undertaking carefully. Accept the Terms. Click “Continue”.

Step 2: A Registration Form will appear. (The fields marked as * are compulsory)

Fill in the details and click “Register”.

Your Application ID and password will be displayed.

The same will also be sent as an SMS on your registered mobile number.

Step 3: Go to https://scholarships.gov.in/fresh/newstdRegfrmInstruction

Click on “Login to Apply”. Enter your Application ID and password.

Type the Captcha and click “Login”.

On the next screen, provide the OTP received on your registered mobile number. You will be directed to the Password Reset screen.

Create a new password and confirm.

Click “Submit”. You will be directed to the “Applicant’s Dashboard”.

Step 4: On the left pane, click “Application Form”. The fields marked as * are compulsory. Fill in the details and upload the documents.

You can either click on “Save as Draft” to complete the application later.

Else, click “Final Submit” to submit the application.
