About the Establishment Of Small Scale Dairy Unit (SSDU) Scheme

The "Small Scale Dairy Unit (SSDU)" has been launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, U.T. Administration of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. It aims to promote dairy development by supporting the establishment of a small-scale dairy unit with indigenous Gir cows. Through this scheme, financial assistance in the form of capital subsidy and back-ended subsidy is provided to beneficiaries for the purchase of milch cows, construction of cattle sheds, and procurement of feed, equipment, and insurance coverage.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant must be a resident of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
  2. The applicant should establish a small-scale dairy unit with 10 milch cows.
  3. The applicant should procure indigenous Gir breed cows only.
  4. The applicant should avail a bank loan for implementation of the project.
  5. The applicant should utilise the subsidy strictly for approved components.
  6. The applicant should maintain records as per the General Financial Rules, 1963.

> Preference / Reservation / Relaxation: The applicant belonging to the Scheduled Caste or the Scheduled Tribe category is eligible for a higher subsidy rate under the back-ended subsidy and insurance components.
