1. The applicant should be a serving police officer or personnel of CAPFs/CPOs.
2. The applicant should have a clean service record without major penalties.
3. The applicant should demonstrate meritorious and consistent service.
4. The applicant should have a minimum service of 18 years.
5. The applicant should have ACRs available for the last 10 years.
6. The applicant should have at least 8 Very Good or above ACRs; at least 1 should be Outstanding.
7. The applicant should not have any average ACR during the review period.
8. The applicant should have at least 1 ACR after the Non-Initiation Certificate (NIC) period (if applicable).
9. The applicant should not have more than 1 missing ACR.
10. The applicant should ensure the last year ACR is available.
11. The applicant should be physically fit and fall under SHAPE 1 category; relaxation to SHAPE 2 may be given in exceptional cases.
12. The applicant should not have more than 3 nominations (for Group A officers).
13. The applicant should not have adverse vigilance or disciplinary issues.

> Application Process

Step 01: Visit the National Awards Portal: https://www.awards.gov.in.

Step 02: Register/Login using the official credentials of the recommending authority.

Step 03: Fill in the nomination form with complete details.

Step 04: Preparation of nomination proposal is done with complete service records and ACR/APAR details.

Step 05: Upload required documents and the submission of recommendation is made by State Government or Central Organization.

> Post-Application Process

Step 01: Verification of ACR/APAR, vigilance, and service records is conducted thoroughly.

Step 02: Screening and evaluation are undertaken by committees constituted under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Step 03: Final recommendation is prepared based on merit and eligibility conditions.

Step 04: Approval is granted by the competent authority and the President of India after due consideration.

Step 05: Announcement and conferment of the award are carried out on national occasions, where the medal and citation are formally presented to the selected awardees.

> Provision for Preparation of Duplicate Medal (In Case of Loss)

In exceptional cases, a duplicate medal shall be prepared only once.

Step 01: The applicant should submit a copy of FIR for loss of medal with full justification through proper channel.

Step 02: The cost of preparation shall be paid by the individual awardee through Bank Draft as suggested by India Government Mint.

Step 03: A penalty of ₹10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand only) shall be paid by the individual in favour of Pay and Accounts Officer, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through Demand Draft.

Step 04: The duplicate medal will be issued only after verification and payment confirmation.
